Description

Does your dog play rough & tough and occasionally chew, scratch, and destroy their beds? Then this Tough Dog Crate Pad is a great option for you. If your dog is a persistent chewer and can't distinguish between his chew toys and his bed, then go with our K9 Ballistics Chew Proof Elevated Dog Bed . (see link in table below) Chew Resistant Dog Crate Pad Rip-Stop Weave Stops Tears From Spreading Resists Occasional Chewing & Scratching Secure To Crate With Zip Ties Water Resistant, Repels Moisture Fits Standard Crates Machine Washable Read more Rough & Tough Design Does your dog nibble on their crate bed creating small holes where they can pull out stuffing? Then this bed's for you. Does your dog absolutely shred their crate bed to tiny bits? Then you should get our Chew Proof Elevated Dog Bed (see chart below). No zippers, no exposed seams, and taught construction make it very difficult for your dog to take a bite out of this tough crate bed. fun fact: we initially designed Kevlar dog beds, but they weren't strong enough. We had to invent our own material to stand up to determined chewers! Zip Tie Down For Extra Durability After years of experience we learned that corners are the first target of a dog's chewing habit. Use the provided zip-ties to secure the corners of the bed to the wire frame of your crate. Our design lasts longer than beds which sit loose in a dog's crate. It's also far more comfortable for your dog. When beds slip and slide around on plastic crate liners, dogs can end up with a crumpled bed piled up in the corner! Our bed doesn't move around and ensures your dog's crate is always plush... (and not crammed up against a wall). Fits Standard Crate Sizes Many dogs experience separation anxiety when in their crate for extended periods of time. Most beds that go into those crates come out as a pile of rags and stuffing. We think your dog's bed should last forever, no matter where it's placed. We made sure that this bed fits into the most common crate sizes snuggly (not tight) to help keep your dog comfortable and safe. Compare our sizes with your crate dimensions. You should find we have a bed which is a perfect fit! Machine Washable We craft our industrial strength ballistic nylon with fibers over-spec for consumer grade textiles. This densely woven material resists moisture, dirt, hair, and grime. It's also incredibly easy to clean with just a damp cloth or water hose! For a deep clean, toss it in the washing machine on a cold cycle & let air dry. In case of "accidents", we also included a waterproof membrane which prevents any moisture from seeping through to the floor. We think you're really going to love the convenience of this bed. I like this crate mat a lot. I purchased a XXL for a 54" drop pin Midwest crate my 10 month old Doberman pup uses. He's a big boy. 93 lbs and tall. This mat fit perfectly and stayed in place. It's thin enough for a crate but tough while still giving cushion for comfort. It looks nice in there as well and I don't mind the noise from the fabric others mention, It's minimal. I gave the mat 5 stars because it is what it is. It's not a chew proof mat. My boy chewed a small hole in the first week. I was super disappointed since it was on the more expensive side. K9 Ballistics sent me a second mat under the warranty guarantee. They were great to work with and professional, I received the replacement very fast. Honestly, I can't believe they offer such a warranty on a mat that is not chew proof. Not much holds up to this pup of mine. I purchased this mat because he generally does not chew his mats but toys and everything else he will chew up in no time, so I'm not terribly surprised he chewed it. Not a reflection on the product. This happened after he had to spend more time than usual in his crate. This is a quality product made in the USA by a great company. I will buy from them again.I first want to say that while reviews on these types of things are helpful, every pet is different and everyone has different needs. It would be hard to predict what would or would not work for each person until they try it. for us, it was worth it so pls read our exact needs....so we have two large pits. they def can chew and we can only buy the very strong KONGs for toys. they eat all the rest w/in minutes. they do NOT chew furniture or anything but the exception is = blankets! not sure if its the soft feeling or what but they both smush up the blanket w/their paws until its sticking up and then chew. almost suck on it and grind. eventually there is a whole in the blanket and that piece of material they have EATEN! While i want the kids to have a comfy crate when we are not home, I get concerned about all the eating of blankets and pooping them out and sometimes puking them up. We are lucky b/c while not part of the same littler and not actually related, our two babies love each other so much that they are actually calm and happy when in same crate so we only have to worry about ONE crate. We have had other dog beds of this nature and come home to what looks like is an explosion of stuffing and whatnot. this has survived for us so far and my babies are healthier NOT eating blankets. using the ties to secure it in a crate vs using it in the open, did not give them a little "end" to suck on or chew. i think the texture (while its still comfy for their bodies) was not plush like other beds or blankets. so i think in our case, once they realized it was not something to chew, just don't even try. i put two large kongs in there w/the treats so they have something to chew during the day as well as music that i play that for calming for dogs. they chew on blankets tho all the time, not just when alone. they are exercised, healthy and get plenty of attention so i guess its just something they like to do. this has solved our problem. my dogs are large w/ powerful teeth so when reading people's negative reviews i really think that it would be impossible to know if this would work for each person b/c all dogs are so different. i think if we left this out of the crate w/o it being tied down, that our dogs would go to and end and chew. with it being tied, this makes it harder to do and i think in their minds its just not a chewable item like the other blankets so they just gave up and use their kongs. i think they think its part of the crate and may not realize its a removable item. they are crazy smart in other ways so am glad they have not figured that out. i think now w/the easy return process we are spoiled and used to being able to just return things but in reality its a risk when you buy something. if you buy a dress that looks good and so then wear it and find its actually uncomfortable or has some annoying feature, well, you have already worn it and can't take it back. its a chance you take. This seller's details are very clear about returns and replacement. a replacement wouldn't help if a dog already destroyed one b/c it will prob destroy again but perhaps that person could use as a gift for someone it may work for or even sell it. it does work for some. After two large blankets became pieces of thread w/all the chewing (AND EATING), i was at my wits end w/options. the spray does not work for us as my dogs love all flavors of all items. LOL. so was willing to invest and risk the money. again, we have a large size and i am glad i only had to buy one since they insist on sharing a crate! My wolfhound pup (13 months) was able to tear a small hole in his bed. This has been the best bed we purchased for our chewer! He chewed some of it but when we put it in the living room for him to lay down on he doesn’t touch it! It’s easy to clean and very durable.Update: ok so since I wrote this last review my puppy has figured out how to flip over the long sides (since there's no way to tether that part down) and chew and eat the beading. He's also chewing up the seams so any day now this bed will be shredded. I'm just a little disappointed for the amount of money and reputation of this brand I thought 'tough' would be just a little tougher. But that could also be my misunderstanding. I will be trying a different brand for a chew proof elevated bed.Overall, I think this is a great dog bed. I have a puppy though so things are slightly less durable than if I had a dog with normal, non-shark, teeth. But for those of you that buy this for your puppy as well, a couple things to note:Each corner has a tag where they provide you zip ties to loop through them to tie the bed to the crate or other things. My puppy immediately (within seconds) had chewed off one of the tags; I am using the bed first to teach him 'place' instead of putting in the crate. I had to cut off all of the tags to prevent him from eating them. The underside of the bed has what seems like an anti-slip tracking which is in the form of little slip resistant beading. My puppy also likes to get a hold of the beads, rip them off, and eat them.Again, they do advertise this bed as not chew proof so it's understandable that chewing can cause these issues, so it's totally an accurate description. But just adding this review so others in my position are well informed if they want to use this the same way I did.The product is definitely easy to clean, you sacrifice some comfort for this but if you have an indoor dog, it's well worth it to keep the doggy smell under control. I originally bought this bed because our 80lb doberman is a master chewer but also a wuss when it comes to sleeping on the floor. She did rip a hole in one of the corners early on and I submitted a picture through amazon for a refund. If you've had a few experiences with refunds/returns from other vendors on Amazon you know that it's not always a process that goes smoothly. They contacted me by email right away and all they needed was a picture of the damage. It was a pleasantly pain free experience and they provided me store credit and a recommendation for another bed. (You just have to pay tax) I ended up getting the same bed, just to use in the car for road trips. 10/10 for customer service and the bed is a good option for moderate chewers, but not so much for training 80lb adolescent monsters.Holding up well so far.Not indestructible, but better than the cheaper ones found at local pet stores. While not a complete failure hence the 3 stars, my dog did manage to get some decent holes in this mat within his first day in his crate with it. Thankfully, with the rip-stop fabric, these holes have managed to stay relatively small and he didn't get much stuffing out of it.With a combination of some good spritzes with bitter apple, the crate pad is still doing strong albeit some chew holes on the edge padding. The central padding section is still fully intact. One big benefit is that the bottom corners of the mat are set up to put through some zip ties to fasten it down to the bottom of the crate. If we put our guy in there when he was frustrated he used to pull up the pad and chew on the edge, now he can't.Our dog is also getting older and maturing a little so is not really throwing tantrums on the mat so that also plays a part on its continued existence.Overall, I'd say that if you can afford it give it a shot, but I would not have bought it given its performance. I would have instead purchased on of theirs or another makers hammock bed (the ones with the metal or plastic frame around a canvas or nylon material bed)Horrible bed. My dog had holes chewed in it within 4 hours. My dog tore through this on the first day of use. Not worth the amount of money!
